Fluevog Friday! Munsters Original Burgundy Suede
Once again, I have gone back in time, all the way to 2010, when Fluevog celebrated it’s 40th Anniversary by re-issuing some favourite styles from the past. I went a bit nuts that year and nearly bought the entire catalogue, but those were different days, with different paychecks. I think I’ve got my money’s worth, as I still have all of my Fluevogs from this era, and today, I’m sharing these — the Munsters Original in Burgundy Embossed Suede.
What is amazing about these shoes, the entire Munsters line, is that they are much more comfortable to wear than they look. The platform helps even out the heel height, and that massive chunky heel keeps me stable.
With a bit of digging in the Wayback Machine, I was able to find the original description found on the Fluevog website:
For his 40th Anniversary, John re-issued his favourite and favorite styles from each decade and for the ’90s he brought back the hugely sought after Munsters. Made famous first by Lady Miss Kier who wore the iconic platforms on the cover of Deee-lite’s debut album, World Clique, then by Madonna who wore the sexy 4″ Louis IV heel in Truth or Dare, the Munsters have long been the symbol of the ’90s House / Club underground DJ scene. Reintroduced with floral brocades, soft suedes, or stamped embossed glossy leathers on tunite soles and brested heels, and a 40th Anniversary buckle, The Munsters were an exact re-issue of the original groovy classic. Groove is in the Heart.
Adam and I went to a Harry Potter-themed event, and I proudly wore Gryffyndor colors, including these fabulous shoes.
